(FREDERICTON, NB) After an almost three year absence, point guard Colleen Daly(Ancaster, ON) is returning to the UNB Varsity Reds women’s basketball team.

She played in 73 Atlantic University Sport regular season games over four seasons, from 2011-12 through 2014-15, scoring 404 points, 123 assists and 123 rebounds.

Daly hasn’t played since the Varsity Reds were eliminated during the AUS playoffs, in February of 2015. She has one season of U SPORTS eligibility remaining.

“We’re thrilled that Colleen will be suiting up for us for the remainder of the season,” said Varsity Reds head coach Jeff Speedy. “She has been very committed to her studies since September and is now in a place where she feels she can not only afford the time to play for us, but also help us on the court.”

The Varsity Reds are dealing with a growing number of injuries, so Daly’s return is welcome.

“She will definitely help us on the court,” said Speedy. “She’s a great teammate and can really play the game so this will certainly give our team a boost.”

Daly will be in the Varsity Reds line-up when they face the St FX X-Women, Friday night, in Antigonish.
