Acadia Downs Laval In Campbell Tourney Action

(FREDERICTON, NB) The Acadia Axewomen improved to 2-0 at UNB's Helen Campbell Tournament with a 74-69 win over the Laval Rouge et Or.

Paloma Anderson(Phoenix, AZ) led Acadia with 21 points while Kelsey Rice(Beaverbank, NS) pulled down 15 rebounds.

Jane Gagne(Quebec City, QC) had 21 points and 9 rebounds for Laval.

Laval led by a single point after one quarter, but Acadia took a 37-35 lead into the half.

The Axewomen opened up a 58-51 lead through three quarters and held on to win by five.

Both teams saw four of five starters score double-digit points.

Laval wraps up its Helen Campbell Tournament scheduled on Sunday morning, with a 10:00am(Atl.) tip-off against the Laurentian Voyageurs.

Acadia faces the host UNB Varsity Reds in a game scheduled for 2:00pm.
