(FREDERICTON, NB) The Saint Mary's Huskies finished UNB's Eric Garland pre-season tournament on a winning note.
The Huskies scored a 71-63 victory over the University of Quebec at Montreal Citadins, Sunday afternoon.
With the win, Saint Mary's finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.
The Citadins return home with a 1-2 record.
Nikita Kasongo(Montreal, QC) led the Huskies, scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 rebounds for the double-double.
Osman Barrie(Ottawa, ON) scored 16 for SMU, while Nico Brauner(Wiesbaden, GER) and Kemar Alleyne(Toronto, ON) had 13 and 12 respectively.
Ibrahima Sylla led all scorers with 18 for the Citadins.
Kasongo, Brauner and Sylla were named tournament all-stars.
Incredibly, both teams were 21 of 66 in field goal shooting.
Saint Mary's edge came at the foul line, where the Huskies went 24 for 32 while UQAM was 9 for 14.
