Reds And Kahunaverse Sports Strike Deal

(FREDERICTON, NB) UNB Athletics is proud to announce they’ve entered a five-year partnership with Kahunaverse Sports and adidas.

Kahunaverse Sports now becomes the official uniform, sports apparel, and t-shirt provider for UNB Athletics through the 2023 Atlantic University Sport and U SPORTS seasons.

“I’m very excited about this deal,” said Nick Zildjan, the Reds Marketing and Special Events Manager. “It allows us to continue working with one of the top sportswear manufactures on the planet, and Kahunaverse, with their resources and the volume of business they do, can assist us in accessing items other suppliers don’t have access to.”

A key component of the deal sees UNB remain a member of the adidas banner under an exclusive apparel partnership with KSG.

Outside of annual rebates for all adidas purchases made, KSG will offer the Reds specialty pricing on apparel, footwear, accessories and miTeam orders.

“UNB has been producing champions for over 100 years and we’re delighted to partner with such a storied institution,” said Lum Balducci, the senior vice-president for Kahunaverse Sports Group. “Just as UNB strives for success on and off the field, we at Kahunaverse strive to be successful in business and even more successful in our communities across our amazing country.”

And while UNB’s uniform supplier isn’t changing, the look of those uniforms might become slightly different as UNB Athletics engages in a re-branding exercise.

Beginning in the 2018-19 Atlantic University Sport season, UNB teams will be known, simply, as the Reds.

The school’s athletic department is overseeing the development of a new mark, but UNB’s traditional red, white and black will remain. The development of the new logo is in the final stages.

“Our main goal was to be more inclusive, and have everyone associated with UNB feel like a Red. Everyone from students, to alumni, staff, faculty, fans, our athletes, and our corporate partners,” said Zildjan. “It’s been an amazing project, so far, and we feel it is well on its way to accomplishing our goal.”

The official unveiling of the new Reds mark will take place ahead of the start of the 2018-19 AUS seasons.
